Hi all,
I recently came back to ME:CCG after a long break and consequently I've been sorting through my sets, buying some cards and making some trades with a view to completing them. At the same time, I've been thinking about striking the right balance between collecting and gaming, and which rares to use as trades and which to keep multiples of.
So, I'm interested in the opinions of others – which are the most useful 'gaming' rares, the cards you'd most want to have three of, regardless of trade value or whatever?
I'll start: I'm a fan of Out of the Black Sky.
Best Rare Cards for Multiples?
I like a lot of the rare hazard long events (morgul night, eye of sauron, snow storm). But fortunately, there are not many rares that you would want multiples of in a deck. The elven ring short events are fun, along with the wizard spells. A few other rares are handy, like secret entrance, great ship, etc. For creatures: assassin and thief.

I'd say it highly depends on what type of player you are. Are you looking for those cards that are most usuable in a competitive environment or are you rather looking for nice cards in a thematic or fun deck?
For fun/thematic decks I think that almost all cards are important to have.
For high level tournament decks you probably want three copies each of (I start with cards from The Wizards set):
- Snowstorm
- Assassin
For special deck strategies also:
- Thief
- Lucky Search
- Great Ship
- Hiding
- Secret Entrance
- Morannon
- and probably others (just be inventive )
There are other cards where two copies are usually enough like Bane of the Ithil-stone or Paths of the Dead.

Heard only rumours about it, but what's the idea of it? Is there a sample deck list for that? Cheers!

My go to cards were always Assassin and Thief too.
Also some doors of night strategy too, so play creatures outside their normal play sites.
