Deck C : The Ring Will Have but One Master

To fulfill a scenario a player has to meet all deck building requirements during the whole game, and additionally the winning requirements for a certain scenario at the end of a game. There are 16 wizard scenarios and 6 ringwraith scenarios...

This deck is designed for The Ring Will Have but One Master scenario.

Deck requirements : none.
Winning requirements : "The One Ring" has been played at Bag End and is stored at Barad-dûr. The gold ring item has to be played and to be tested at Bag End.

Deck description

Starting company relies on sorcery-users : The Grimburgoth is a very powerful ranger/sage character (Opened to the Summons), and Hador quite strong.
Scouts complement starting company : Dunlending Spy, Luitprand and Eradan (which is moreover ranger).
Ostisen is the backup of scouts during character draft.
As backup of Hador, Taladhan lack of sorcery, but is a cool scout/ranger/sage.

Elerina is a strong scout/sage and playable at Carn Dûm (so is Gulla).
Calendal can use the Palantir of Annuminas to recycle Test of Fire.
Nain is a sage at low cost, as follower of Uvatha.

Uvatha can also recycle Test of Fire.
Whispers of Rings is mandatory because lots of ring tests will fail finding the One Ring.
A Dwarven Ring should thus be found, deserved to Broin, Nain or Gulla.


Resource MP are naturally only focused to find The One Ring at Bag End, thus no ally nor faction.
Resources are mostly attack canceller :
- Not Slay Needlessly against nasty Elves and aa at Bag End
- A Nice Place to Hide, all-around for scouts
- The Tormented Eath, all-around for sorcerers
- Veils of Shadow, against nasty aa at Bag End
Other resources are :
- Dark Tryst to speed up draw,
- Bade to Rule for Uvatha,
- Weigh all Things to a Nicety to access sideboard or recycle a useful card (Test of Fire, ...),
- Voices of Malice for nasty hazards (Something Else at Work definitively ruins scenario)


Hazard part is an heavy corruption theme, due to the influence of The One Ring.
Being less efficient against minion, opponent may not be prepeared to deal with.
Lure of Power cannot backfire due to the lack of factions.

Creatures are the excellent Ent in Search of Entwives and Pukel-men, the Beornings Lord of the Carrock and Baduila, and the Wizards (except Saruman who mustn't be played as permanent-event).
My Precious must be played face up as defense, to avoid opponent playing him.
There's only 1 An Unexpected Outpost to avoid adding hazards, which would otherwise decrease the chance to draw resources needed for the scenario.

News of Doom is the trump hazard in sideboard, because lots of scenario require factions.


Play Notes

Play Scroll of Isildur and Palantir of Annuminas as soon as possible (sideboard All Tought Bent Upon It if not early drawn).
These are best to be played at Moria, especially if Nain joined, and because of Blasting Fire playable there.
Otherwise search Blasting Fire in Goblin-gate or Mount Gram, or even Secret Book in a ruined town (reference to hero scenario).
Palantir of Annuminus in hands of Calendal (or Focused by another sage) allow to take Test of Fire to hand.

If Uvatha enters play soon, sideboard While the Yellow Face Sleeps to increase hand size for the combo.

Go to Bag End.
Use Blasting Fire to cancel all aa (or other cancellers).
Play A Little Gold Ring (artwork more thematic than Gold Ring that Sauron Fancies).
Untap Bag End with a Secret Book.
Test the Ring with Test of Fire.
Recycle Test of Fire to hand with Palantir, or to deck with Uvatha.
Repeat until The One Ring is found.

When The One Ring is found, it should be for The Grimburgoth or Hador if possible, because they can benefit from White Light Broken.
Sideboard The Water's Tithe to move from Bag End to Dol Guldur in one turn, and if very lucky Forced March to jump to Barad-dur !


Altough deck runs very well, I was never close to succeed the scenario (with 4 tries).
I found only once The One Ring during the last turn, due to very high roll dice difficulty (10+).
