I won't be attending Worlds but I did look up tourist information on Lille. What a beautiful city! [-me_fh-]

You can take a city tour in a little classic Citroen - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v8mqB7WehbQ

I updated the first post in this thread with list of attendees, info on venue and schedule.

Prices will be comparable to last year. More detail on this soon.

Regarding accomodation, we have made a deal with The Gastama youth hostel so we should be able to get rooms for less than 40€ per night (breakfast included) if we can optimise (i.e. fill them).
I will block book to get a discount for you and I will soon send you my bank details with instructions.

I would prefer to play sealed, Arda or casual Middle-Earth and I will look at the scenario list. Who brings an Arda deck?

I may come with Claudia, my girlfriend and our baby and book a double room at the Hostel for the 3 of us. Claudia may participate in some non-meccg casual game, but was thinking of just visiting the city. I still plan to introduce her to meccg sometime.

Hi, are there any updates regarding the pre booking? "Only" one month left, I do not know for Lille, but for Cologne it could be tricky to book a room if you are late ;-)

Cheers

Hi Heiner.
Thanks for the reminder. The last update is indeed 2-week old.

The gaming venue is booked. We are still waiting for the payment details and final price from the hostel so that I can send them my own money to finalise the booking. It should hopefully be a matter of days.

So please expect an email next week (or a pm- if you did not attend the last Worlds, I probably do not have your email address). As I will pay upfront I will appreciate a rapid payment :)

So far 26 people confirmed and there are a few more “potentials”. Unfortunately still no news from Mark A nor the Spanish community. If you know their plans please let me know (whether they plan to attend or not).

If anyone drops out or on the contrary was a potential but is now sure to join, please let me know as well so that I can optimise booking. Thanks.

Latest update:

Youth hostels rooms have been secured.
And I am really pleased to announce that some more players have announced their presence (including Mark A). So 30 to 35 players will join us during the weekend !

I have started to send individual emails to people who have confirmed their presence to finalise details.

If you do not receive an email/CoE msg this week or if you are not listed on the presence list in the first post of this thread, please contact me urgently as we still have a chance to get you a room for cheap. If you wait too long, you will have to find your own accomodation as the hostel will be full.

Could anyone bring an Arda to the event?

Also, I am looking for tournament directors for:
Hero 1-deck on Friday afternoon
The main event GO on Saturday + finals on Sunday

Thank you

Herve, technical question :) Is it allowed to drink there alcohol, bring own beers or buy there? I think i will skip friday events to do some sightseeing with gf. But plan to join you for a moment friday evening, to sit and chat a little :) Of course will participate in GO :)

Important question indeed. This part of France is the country’s main producer of beers and we are only a few km from Belgium.

It is likely that the drinking game will have to be at the hostel (which makes it easier to find the room after the tourney), but it looks like we will be allowed to drink alcohol on the venue.
To be on the safe side, Denis is clarifying the situation with the local authorities (e.g. can we sell beers there or do we all have to buy our own beers in the nearby shop?) but there will for sure be opportunities to taste local gastronomy :D

We will keep you posted.

Me and a friend (Oscar) are looking for going depending of accommodation at the youth hostel and flight schedules. Form Barcelona to Charleroi we would arrive too late for Hero torunament and we would back to early and can't play sunday.
