I've recently started playing MeCCG again, and quickly remembered why I loved it so much.

I like to make short films when I can find the time, and mini-documentaries are one of my favorite genres.

One project that I've been toying around with lately is a filming a documentary about MeCCG and the gaming culture that surrounds it. Financially, this would probably restrict myself to the States, but if I get some funding, I will consider crossing the pond. :D

If the project goes ahead, it won't be soon, but I wanted to put the idea out there for the following information:

1) MeCCG players interested in participating as a subject for the documentary
2) Locations that can be filmed at
3) Any MeCCG events in the States that can be filmed*
4) Potential copyright issues that could come up (Artist renderings on the cards, ICE, etc.) and contact information for those parties.
5) MeCCG players interested in the film production side of things (Cinematographer, audio, grips, craft services, anything)

*I went to the Nationals in D.C. a few years ago. Is that still happening?

If you have ANY ideas or suggestions, don't hesitate to send me a PM. :D

You can also get online on GCCG, record games in there and probably skip a little bit the financial issue. At least its a start, there are already some games recorded and posted on youtube. If you want to include the online community in your documentary i can help as a subject for it.
As for real life location, i'd very much suggest Lure or World Championships.

marcos is right. Youd get the best overview over the community if you would join the Lure of Meccg. Not the cheapest way for americans though.

From what I know of Lure, that would certainly be your best bet. Sadly, competitive MECCG in the States isn't what it used to be. But there are definitely enough of us around that would be interested in such a documentary.
