Despair of the Heart
Corruption. A non-Wizard, non-Hobbit character receives 2 corruption points. Target character makes a corruption check each time a character in his company becomes wounded. Cannot be duplicated on a given character. During the organization phase, a character with this card may tap to attempt to remove it. Make a roll (or draw a #): if this result is greater than 4, discard this card.

Many Foes he Fought
If defender chooses a warrior to be the target of a strike from an attack, that character may choose to face any number of the strikes from that attack. The character suffers a cumulative -1 prowess/-1 body for each additional strike faced. The character faces a separate strike sequence for each strike.

A company with Beregond, Haldir and Beorn is at Moria. "Despair of the Heart" has been played on Beorn.
The company's player chooses to enter the site, and play "Many Foes he Fought" on Beregond.
This character must face the 4 strikes of the automatic-attack (Orcs, 4*7)

First strike: Beregond is wounded. He remains in play after the body check.
Corruption check for Beorn: OK, he remains in play.

Second strike: Beregond is wounded (again).
Should another corruption roll be made for Beorn? (Beregond was already wounded).

A character can become wounded just once unless he heals in between. So only one corruption check for Beorn in this case.

Just to give a source in the rules:

MELE p. 91:
Wounded: The state of a character shown by placing the top of his card towards you. A character in play who is not tapped or untapped is wounded. A character becomes wounded wounded when a strike against him is successful. You cannot declare an action that requires a character to tap if the character is wounded.

By the way, a successful strike against a character both wounds them (they may or may not already be wounded) AND causes them to make a body check (regardless of whether they became wounded):
MELE p. 30: "If a strike against a character is successful and the attack was not a detainment attack, the character is wounded and must make a body check."
