Wounded & Strike, Wounded at Site Phase

Totally new to the game, so my apologies if these seems noob-ish.

Situation: Aragorn (6/9) is currently wounded. He has a strike assigned to him by my opponent.

Questions: Does Aragorn have the option to not tap to face the strike, and get the -3 penalty? If he doesn't have to tap to face the strike would he get the -3 not tapping penalty AND the -2 penalty for being wounded, or just the -3 from not tapping? OR is it simple the -2 penalty for being wounded?

Additionally, if a wounded (but untapped) character is at a site, could they tap to play an item or other resource after any automatic attacks are faced? Would it matter whether the character faced a strike untapped and ended up getting wounded during this site phase?
