Is this correct?
This would be the same for any other card which creates an effect as well? The effect still remains even if the card leaves play?
Lasting effects once a card leaves play

Not necessarily; depending on text of the card.the Jabberwock wrote:This would be the same for any other card which creates an effect as well? The effect still remains even if the card leaves play?
Effect of Book of Mazarbul checks for act of tapping of Book of Mazarbul, it does not check for state of the card after tapping.
Prompting of Wisdom defines affected company by presence of character that tapped for an effect of the card. Prompting of Wisdom itself may leave of play (e.g. in result of discarding Crown of Flowers with which it was played), but as long the character is in company, the company is under effect (the character does not need to have a ranger skills after initiating effect of the card).

So it seems that Promptings of Wisdom acts much the same as Book of Mazarbul, that is, once a tapping action takes place, the effect remains until the specified period on the card expires. However, if I understand you correctly, you are saying that the Ranger must stay in the company for the effect to remain? What if the Ranger immediately fails his corruption check, you then lose the benefit of the Promptings of Wisdom effect? This result seems logical from a common sense perspective, but I don't really see why there is a difference then with the Book of Mazarbul tapping and staying in effect even if it leaves play versus the Ranger tapping with Promptings and it's effect remaining even if the Ranger or Promptings leaves play.Konrad Klar wrote:Yes.the Jabberwock wrote:If I tap the Book of Mazarbul to increase my hand size until my next untap phase, and then shortly afterwards the Book of Mazarbul leaves play, I still benefit from the increased hand size for the rest of my turn and all of my opponent's turn... until my next untap phase, at which time I lose the bonus. Effect of tapping a ranger according to Promptings of Wisdom applies to "his company".
Which company will be "his company" if the character will split off into separate company, or will join other?
Its current? Its former? Both?
I think that a company that is its currentl. And if the character is not in any company (is discarded, eliminated, imprisoned) then none.
Different things are an effects that apply to character(s) in initiator's company. The character(s) must be in initiator's company when an effect is initiated, but once initiated the effect itself does not establish any relation between initiator and beneficent(s) that musty be maintained. Examples are the effect of discarding Potion of Prowess, or effect of tapping Magical Harp.
