The question came up if the "+1 corruption to every character in the bearer's company" of The One Ring is a source of corruption. I`d say yes but not everybody seems to be so sure. Can you help?
The One Ring
Unique. The One Ring. Playable only with a Gold Ring and after a test indicates The One Ring. +5 prowess (to a maximum of double the bearer's starting prowess), +5 to body (to a maximum of 10), +5 to direct influence. Bearer may make a corruption check modified by -2 to cancel a strike; this does not work against Undead and Nazgûl strikes. +1 corruption to every character in the bearer's company.
The Balance Of Things
Unique. Each character has the corruption points doubled for one of his sources of corruption (the player controlling the character chooses.)

Yes it's a source. ICE made it that way because of Balance / One Ring.

CRF One Ring
If the bearer is a Ringwraith, The One Ring does not provide corruption to the characters in the company.

So yes you can infer it's a source of corruption.

Now does that mean the character bearing the ring itself can double that source if the One Ring is the only card he/she controls?

I.e. can the bearer have only 8 CP instead of 13 or 14?

Yep. That is the net result.
