INFORMATION
The White Tree, METW Limited Edition wrote:Unique. Sage only at Minas Tirith. Playable only if a Sapling of the White Tree is at Minas Tirith. Minas Tirith becomes a Haven for the purposes of healing and playing hazards.
The White Tree, METW Unlimited Edition wrote:Unique. Sage only at Minas Tirith. Playable only if a Sapling of the White Tree is at Minas Tirith and is discarded. Minas Tirith becomes a Haven for the purposes of healing and playing hazards.
The White Tree, Saruman Challenge Deck Edition wrote:Unique. Sage only. Playable if your sage and your Sapling of the White Tree (stored or borne by a character) are at Minas Tirith. Discard the Sapling of the White Tree. Minas Tirith becomes a Haven for the purposes of healing and playing hazards.
CRF, Errata (Cards), The White Tree wrote:Card Erratum: Add "Discard the Sapling of the White Tree".
The METW versions (both limited and unlimited) don't make clear whether a Sapling of the White Tree stored at Minas Tirith can be discarded to play The White Tree. Also, the CRF errata doesn't say to which version it applies. If it applies to the unlimited or the challenge deck versions, two saplings would be needed to play The White Tree.

BALLOT ITEM # 13:
Are you in favor of issuing the following erratum?

THE WHITE TREE
Change This:
To This:
The White Tree wrote:Unique. Sage only at Minas Tirith. Playable only if you discard a Sapling of the White Tree borne by one of your characters at Minas Tirith, or one from your MP pile stored at Minas Tirith. Minas Tirith becomes a Haven [ [-me_ha-] ] for the purposes of healing and playing hazards.

CONSEQUENCES OF YOUR VOTE:
If you vote YES, then discarding a Sapling of the White Tree will be a condition to play The White Tree instead of an effect. The CRF erratum will be removed.

If you vote NO, then The White Tree will remain unchanged. Discarding a Sapling of the White Tree will continue to be an effect (rather than a condition) of playing The White Tree.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS:
- In neither case can an opponent's Sapling of the White Tree be discarded. In either case, a Sapling of the White Tree stored by you at Minas Tirith can be discarded to play The White Tree.
- A majority NO vote would mean that the latest printed version by ICE (Challenge Deck edition) should be used; however, it would remain unclear whether or not the CRF erratum should be applied to this version (possibly causing two Saplings to be discarded).

The person who proposed this errata doesn't understand how active conditions work. They also don't understand how the CRF or ICE rulings work.

The Challenge Deck version is correct.

All versions are correct. Each works differently than other versions.
