Card Strategy and Explanation

On the main website (which seems to have a database error at the moment) there are documents for Against the Shadow and the White hand where the cards are organized and described. This is very very helpful!

Has anyone done this for the other sets/expansions?

As a beginner, I have many questions when looking through cards, and occasional epiphanies.

For example, Belegaer. It seems great at first. But then I realized it only works for starter movement. So, you must be moving to or from Grey Havens or Edhellond?

Gems of Arda. You can discard your opponent's stored item by playing it yourself. What item would this be useful for? And what kind of deck would include it? Or, what kind of deck withdrawing it be for against?

Refuge. It lets you heal and creates a freehold. But you need to discard an elf. Why would I play this? Because I don't want to move to a haven but I need to heal? Would I mostly use this in dragon country or in Mordor?

Drakes. A comparison on playability vs strength.

I should keep better track. But there are many cards where the use is not immediately clear. I'm mostly just wondering if this already exists.

ICE manufactured a Player Guide for each set through Lidless Eye. ICE never manufactured a PG for Against the Shadow, White Hand or Balrog, so some player enthusiasts created their own. That is what you are looking at with the AtS and WH pdfs you are talking about. Apparently the players never got around to making one for The Balrog. If you are interested in purchasing the Player Guides for the first 4 sets, shoot me an email as I believe I have an extra of most of them. They are quite useful as they break down each card.

For Belegaer and other similar cards, they are very poorly worded. You do not need to be using Starter Movement to play them, and indeed you may not use Starter Movement for that company. When you play these cards, you are using Special Movement in lieu of Region Movement. So no, you do not need to be moving to or from a haven.

I'll have to look at your other questions/cards when I have a bit more time.

As I've understood it, Refuge is great for preventing an aggressive CvCC or influence-your-stuff opponent from coming after you.
