The Ancient Stair is there for no other reason than to fake your opponent into sideboarding the wrong hazards early on.
Wander around the sea. Get the Scroll at the Stones and the Rings where convenient. Play Fellowhips at Edhellond. Put the One on Boromir and head to Minas Tirith. Play Morannon. With the One, he'll have a solid 11/12. If you've got a few Fellowships and Stars, he should be able to laugh at Nazgul.
On that note, make sure to stick some Twilights in the hazard portion.
Sideboard a Risky Blow near the end to help him defeat Sauron's strike, and use the combo of Fellowships + Free to Choose to help him survive the corruption check.
Pack your belongings and move in at Barad-dur.
