German Nats will be held on October 25-26 in Karben (near Frankfurt/Main) 8) .
While the main event takes place on Saturday only we will provide a MECCG program for Sunday as well. Foreign players are welcome!
For further details please have a look at the event page and the german forum.
Please note: We have a discussion and a poll running in the german forum if proxies should be allowed for the main event.
Hope to see you in Karben.

Maybe some other organizers of other countries like to tell us how they deal with proxies at their national events.

See you there Karsten! :D

Then isn't DM the same weekend as Spiel 2008? that's a pitty...

As for proxies, if I'm to host a tourney I'd allow them, I think there's a difference between playing and collecting. Some rule should be devised:
-they must be proper/solid copies (not just card with title on it)
-only 3 per deck (or maybe 3 resource/ 3 hazards)

Nowadays such excellent copies can be made that without real close examination you won't be able to tell the difference. I've flashed a Longbottom copy dozens of times without opponent noticing. Of course if cards stay on the table it's another matter.

I agree it's a pity, that it will be the same weekend as the SPIEL, as I originally intended to go there...
But german nationals are better! And PLEASE: allow us to use at least a Longbottom Leaf!

As for the side-events on sunday I am of course willing to hold either a Dream-card challenge deck event or Dream-card general opponent event (for which at least 10 of my DCCD will be available to borrow from me)

Mabye we could have a poll, which event you would prefer.

Also note that my first finished expansion will be the Firstborn set ( I have all cards done, but not all with pics)

cards will be available also on GCCG

Good idea. Should we have it here or in the german forum?

It seems that I am coming to German Nats this year!
It is in Germany, I know, but in the unlikely event there are people present who do not like beer, or who otherwise don't want to drink alcohol, because of health reasons, or religion, or because they still have a hangover from Oktoberfesten, or just because their mum forbids them, I will bring an Arda deck that can be played Saturday evening in stead of Drinking Game.

Now, should anybody want to play this game, they might want to read this spoilers file, because there have been some changes to a few cards involved....it might look like an overwhelming lot, but in a 520 card deck plus 130 mp cards and 70 character deck, the changes are not going to be as big as you might think.

Other people interested in Arda might also want to take a look and see if there´s something they think worthy of including in their decks, or if it's just insane (remember, it's Arda not a normal game).

cheers and tschüss

Great idea! Even though, beer is still attractive. ;)

That is going to be a tough challenge.... But you might find somebody who plays a game with you drunk....

Yes I know, my only hope is that the financial crisis strikes deep so people don't have the money to spend on booze. Or maybe they'll drink twice as much because of it, hehe.
Don't get me wrong, Arda will go better with a beer or two as well, with 6 or 7 players you even start to see the wizards double, but Drinking Game is not my cup of Tea...

I promise you we had a great weekend again.

Here are the results for the main event on Saturday (4 rounds):

1. Martin Teofanovic 23 Fallen Pallando
2. Heiner Viefhues 18 Hero
3. Mario Nau-Theissen 17 Hero
4. Michel Schmidt 16 Balrog
5. Birk Pfeiffer 15 Balrog
6. Karsten Gerland 14 Balrog
7. Eric Dane (NED) 12 Minion (with a borrowed deck from Mario)
8. Bernd Brunner (AUT) 12 Fallen Wizard
9. Holger Fischer 12 Minion
10. Dominic Kempf 11 Hero
11. Wolli Vogt 10 Hero
12. Nico Willinek 9 Hero
13. Roberto Döhring 9 Minion
14. Martin Fuchs 6 Hero
15. Hans-Werner Milpetz 5 Hero
16. Peter Manhard 4 Hero

The winner of the sealed tournament (6 participants, 3 rounds) is Bernd with 18 points (that means 3x 6:0).

We also had an Arda-event (4 players). I'm not sure who won (too much beer). I would guess that it was Dominic.

The Dream Card General Opponent we held on Sunday (7 players, 3 rounds). After a tough final against Bernd (Elf-lord Cirdan) I finally managed to win this event with my Fallen Gandalf Shire-shuffle (I hope to post the decklist soon). I's worth mentioning that Dominic became A New Ringlord two times and that Holger won 6:0 with just 1 MP (Bifur with a Steed).

Thanks to all players to make this another great Nationals again :D .
