DC First Folk pre-release tournament
Indeed, very tight with big swings. When I stored my big MP cards and played my stage resources I thought I had a good chance to win. Then I failed two easy factions any of which I needed to pass 25 MP and call (I had 24). Looking for more MPs, my main company was sweeped except for Thranduil. In the next turns, Tomi built a nice lead and called (27-16 at that time IIRC). I saw a chance to win and I risked my avatar with 5 corruption points and lure of power on the table influencing away a lot of points from Tomi. I got two excellent and decisive rolls in a row, more luck than the risk I took deserved I guess.

Fernando vs. Eric 0-6
probably longest/toughest game in last couple years, same avatar games always tax your brain.
Donepi started his avatar, which left me frustrated and thinking about this ICE optional rule... well perhaps I should have just packed an avatar in pool
then it took a weird turn when donepi played a single character to fill his remaining 8 starting GI, but corrupted him first turn on a Marvels, so his avatar was all alone in the world. This set him couple turns back, so I could play the Scroll, which was the key point in the game, because after about 12 tests he still hadn't scored One Ring yet and I exhausted twice, though barely making 23 MP (Fernando is expert on body checks). So result 6-29 with doubling ally/factions/misc
But I have to say, roaming Middle-earth wounded and not being able to go to your only haven because your opponent's avatar is sitting there waiting to influence you away..... that's tough

That's why I started Thrain.
The game is flawed, but this does not mean it cannot be loved.
