Many of the attendees who will come to Rome for the 2010 europeans may want to share their accomodation with other players in the same hostel (or any other turistic facility) to reduce costs and have the chance to hang out with each other when they're not at the euro2010 location: many people are planning to stay longer than the 16th-18th weekend in order to visit the city.

This thread is meant to be a point of reference to share advices and hints, find roommates, ask for opinions ("is this a good/cheap accomodation?") and so on.

its quite cheap and prefectly in the centre of rome (right at the railway station termini and only some 20 minutes to the famous places like colloseum and forum romanum, ...)

For those who want some suggestions, I made a search on hostelworld and found some cheap accomodation with a pretty central position, they're all a few subway stations away from the euros location. In particular, the Youth Station Hostel is only 3 stations away. The sooner you book your accomodation, the better: the high season is approaching, and the availability may start to become scarce. ;)

"A good and cheap hotel near the game location (approx. 2 km) is the Cascina Palace, Via Attilio Benigni, 7 Rome 00156 Italien ,
43 € for a double room including breakfast seems more than reasonable, online booking link see below:"

Thx for the info,

as I see we a spreat in at least two different hostels so far.
If I understand right the gaming location closes at 8 p.m. each evening, right Bruce?!
So it would be nice to have a room for gaming after 8 p.m., which would be much easier if we stay more or less in the same hostel which has a gaming room or something similar!
Has one of the hostels something like this?
Are there other locations for gaming after 8 p.m already in place, Bruce?!
Where stay the other players?

Lot of questions I do not know the answer yet ... :-)

See you next week in Rome

i know the astro hostel, have een there this spring. its quite okay (at least the 2bedrooms). the reason why i didnt book it again is cause there is no way to sit together and play.
not sure if it is possible at the caput mundi hotel, where thomas and i a staying.
at least, its just a few minutes distance, so thats no problem at all.

i would very much like to spend the time together with some MECCG games in the eveings! we will have to find out on site, if its possible in one of our accomodations.

Hi Wolfgang,

I will stay in the

Best Western Hotel Universo,
Via Principe Amedeo, 5/b
00185 Roma, Italy
06 476 811
hoteluniversorome.com‎

It is only 400 Meters from Roma Termini and less than 1 km from your hostels. I think it should be possible to play there in the lobby, may be drinks are as well available and effortable there, I do not know. A gaming room or a pub you can play would be a better choice I guess.

Bruno, you know a location for gaming after 20:00 ????

See you on friday, I will arrive 2 p.m. at Rom Fiumicino, someone else around that time as well?

The usual location for our MECCG evening's meetings is a pub called "fatamorgana" (we also played the last nationals there). That's a nice place to play MECCG while sipping a drink. The address is via dei Volsci, 3. It's close to the Termini area, then it can be reached by feet from the hostels where most of you will be staying

Alternatively there's another suitable location for evening's gaming called "over time", the address is via dei Marsi, 13, just a few hundreds of metres further.
