Company Size And Character Play

Is it valid to play a character at a non-haven site even if it would bring the number of characters at the site to above seven, so long as the player then splits the company (through movement declaration)?

Or is it not possible to even play a character in such circumstances?

Re: FW Rings-For-Points Discussion

Other anti-hazard recycling can include Knowledge of the Enemy for Outposts and Mouth+Fury of the Iron Crown to get rid of Mouth of Sauron.

Re: Draft of CoE Digest #200 Q2 - Siege - Open until August 27th

This looks good -- I would consider adding a note about how it interacts with River, though. You have until the beginning of the site phase to tap a ranger, and you may tap the ranger at the beginning of the site phase without entering the site. You must tap one ranger for each river played on the s...

FW Resource Permanent Events and Orcs/Trolls

Apologies if this has already been answered, but I was unable to effectively search the forum (most of the keywords being far too common). You may not play a hero resource permanent-event on a company with an Orc or Troll in it. This seems to only restrict play. (Similar to the rule that FWs can *ha...

Re: Prowess of Age and The Tormented Earth (could vs would)

Offhand, since the choice cannot be made until the cards are actually drawn, you can't really declare "choose one" at all when declaring Eyes of Mandos. The 8 cards, as such, don't exist as an entity, and you're not declared to declare actions just because the required entity *will* exist ...

Re: Prowess of Age and The Tormented Earth (could vs would)

With the slight correction that the hazard player chooses A, and then company's player chooses Potion of Prowess -- it would be valid to discard Potion of Prowess in response, causing Rats! to fizzle. There is nothing intrinsically wrong with this. Nor is there anything wrong with preemptively disca...

Re: Prowess of Age and The Tormented Earth (could vs would)

The cards have optional effects. If the optional effect you have chosen becomes invalidated due to failing to meet conditions, you may not then choose an alternative to the effect that you already chose. Of *course* they aren't cards that have alternative effects. They are, however, cards that have ...

Re: Prowess of Age and The Tormented Earth (could vs would)

You have the option of canceling the attack or modifying its prowess. You cannot do both. You do not *have* to cancel the attack. You do not have to modify its prowess. Therefore, they are optional by any reasonable definition of the word. What is not optional is to choose between the options. Edit:...

Re: Prowess of Age and The Tormented Earth (could vs would)

Annotation 27: If a card has optional effects, the player playing the card must choose which will take place. He must do this at the time the card is played, not when it is resolved in its chain of effects. When such a card is resolved, if any active conditions for the choice of effects do not exis...

Re: Plotting Ruin, Heart Grown Cold, and Rhosgobel

Apologies for resurrecting this thread, but this would be a case where ICE contradicted themselves: When rules and non-site cards refer to Havens and Darkhavens, they apply instead to your Wizardhavens. Strictly speaking, when either of those cards refer to hero havens, they by rule instead refer to...

Re: Warm Now Be Heart and Limb

As I said in my first post, timing is usually a mess. *Especially* in the case of short-events.

Your interpretation is at least as valid as mine, though as you noted, mine allows for more consistency across cards.

Re: Warm Now Be Heart and Limb

No. When played, it targets a single sage; the timing for such things is established. As a permanent-event, it establishes the capacity to later initiate an action.

Re: Warm Now Be Heart and Limb

I don't think so.

I think you choose targets for healing at declaration. Sages are tapped as active conditions for the healing at declaration.

Healing happens at resolution.

Then ccs for tapped sages begin their own chains.
