Re: #CoE Erratum Proposal 1

When I saw this mentioned in Wolfgang's newsletter, I expected something more significant. I forgot how deliberate and conservative the fan base is. Like Gimli describes working in the Glittering Caves of Aglarond: "With cautious skill, tap by tap - a small chip of rock and no more, perhaps, in...

Formal Resignation

As you guys probably noticed on my other post in the General forum, I'm officially withdrawing from all my MECCG responsibilities. I pretty much said there what I want to say, so I'll just say goodbye and best of luck.

Passing the torch (again)

Due to my failing to keep up even a modicum of activity with the Council of Lorien, I have offered the job to Josh Hunholz, and he accepted. Josh has been a great help with some events I have run in the past, and knows the ropes. I expect the transition will be smooth, and I'm sure Josh will be more...

or (4) Influence attempts include an influence check, but an influence check can also occur in other kinds of attempts. This is the logic behind the rulings above, and I don't see how it's wrong. As long as we claim that a modification to an attempt modifies the check, everything's cool.

In my opinion only "tap/discard to" or "tap/discard" printed in bold may be considered as active condition i.e. done at declaration. Otherwise tapping/discarding is part of main effect. You will never get that kind of consistency from MECCG cards. I don't have time to scour my c...

The only argument I have is that we've done this before when cards are clearly broken. One interpretation is reasonable. The other means you'll be changing the metagame dramatically, and probably for the worse. The game will become one where nobody carries items, they just get them and store them. Y...

Yeah, I don't remember. Sorry.

The "What is a target?" thread never really went anywhere, so I don't think there's much to pilfer from the meccg.net forums.

Get it? Pilfer? Man, I'm funny.

What if we ruled that the modifications that Webs refers to are only those written in card texts? That keeps the roll and the cross-alignment penalty. I expect that was meant to be the scope of the card in the first place.

I am extremely hesitant to agree with overturning rulings because the NetRep doesn't like how something works. There's a lot of holes and weirdness in the rules and cards. If we start issuing rulings like this, where does it end? From the beginning of the CoE, the NetRep has been charged with clarif...

Bruno de Lucia is withdrawing

Bruno de Lucia is withdrawing from the elections for the Council of Elrond. Though this does not change the end date and time of the elections, if those who have voted for Bruno wish to change their vote, they can do so by emailing the registrar. Dear MECCGers, I'm sorry to announce my withdrawal fr...

That really doesn't change the fact that I would much rather see card rulings than a rule modification. It's a safer path, as it's easier to guarantee the scope of the ruling.

I'm confused as to why this was even cross-posted here. Nigel's out by his own choice, Wim's out. We've moved. Issue's done. Let's not waste any more space on this board with personal issues and Wim's idiocy.

Konrad, is there anyway that the corruption check from DotH ever get triggered under your interpretation? I think the issue here is not an incorrect definition of passive conditions in the CRF, but an overly literal reading of DotH. I would rather issue a ruling on DotH to clarify how that one card ...

I'm sorry, I guess I'm missing something. What's the problem? There's a rule that says that you can't have non-RW characters in a company outside of a Darkhaven. OfL does nothing to change that, it just changes the one leader per company rule. Specifically, what's the issue?
