According to CoE rules and Regulations:

1*) There shall be 12 non-sliding prequalified slots for Worlds:

4 slots for the top four finalists of the previous year's Worlds
4 slots for the organizers of the previous year's Worlds
2 slots for the top two finalists of the previous year's European Championships
2 slots for the organizers of the previous year's European championships

(2*) There shall also be sliding prequalified slots for Worlds:

4 slots for the United States
2 slots for Germany
2 slots for the Netherlands
2 slots for Spain
1 slot for each other country with an active national council
1 extra slot for the host country

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Therefore, here's the tentative list:

(1*)
Mark Alfano (World Champion)
Agustin Lozano (2nd place in Worlds)
Patric Laxander (3rd place in Worlds)
Heiner Viefhues (4th place in Worlds)
Marc Roca (organizer 1)
Enrique Navarro (organizer 2)
????? (organizer 3)
????? (organizer 4)
[no european championships were held in 2006]

(2*)
Alicia Zaret (USA 1)
Rich Buonanno (USA 2)
Charles Jenkins (USA 3)
Nate Gershanek (USA 4)
Brian Min (USA 5, lucky boy, getting in on a tie-breaker, and only because he's from the host nation ;))
Markus Richartz (Germany 1)
Martin Teofanovic (Germany 2)
Alfons van Impelen (Holland 1)
Wouter van Impelen (Holland 2)
Manuel Cabezalí (Spain 1)
Librado Pachá (Spain 2)
Mikko Vihtemäki (Finland)
????? (Sweden)
????? (Italy)
????? (Argentina)
Bernd Brunner (Austria)
????? (Belgium)
????? (Czech Republic)
????? (Japan)
????? (Switzerland)

Note that all slots in this category are sliding. I have taken the liberty of making prima facie assignments based on the national tournaments in these countries this year, but of course if the player listed will not be attending the event, his national council may choose to assign his slot to someone else.

PLEASE EMAIL OR PM ME IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, COMMENTS, OR CORRECTIONS FOR THIS LIST.
