Hello all,
I'm an avid LotR TCG player, and a general enjoyer of card games. Burned through several before finally finding LotR, which has always been my favorite franchise. I've thought about getting into this game a few times, but now I'm going to give it a shot in earnest. I read the rules and a sample game about a year back, but don't remember much. I do pick up on mechanics quickly though.
My schedule is erratic so I will be a difficult one to teach, but I am offering a rare chance: a willing blank slate for any number of mad experiments. I'm only gonna be able to learn this game from scratch once, so make them count! I've already received a 5-minute tutorial in Cardnum from Nikolai(sp?) before I had to cut out, which was very helpful. Even if I don't take to it, I'll offer up as much advice as I can on what worked and what didn't.
So, what's next?

depending who you talk to you are in the "best" or "worst" hands with me
Hi Phallen. I saw you over on Cardnum. I wrote in the chat there but I'll also write here so you can find it.
There is a semi-official rewrite of the rules that is easier to understand for beginners (which I was/am). It was written by employees of ICE (one of the guys is named Craig/"Ichabod") for their own use in demos of the game at conventions, but it was never officially published. I think this is the best place to start. You can find it at BGG: https://boardgamegeek.com/filepage/1032 ... fied-rules
And then you can reference the official rules (with minor updates) at this website: https://councilofelrond.org/wp-content/ ... lebook.pdf
And then once you get more familiar, you can read all of the expansion rules at this same website: https://councilofelrond.org/rules/
