Folco Boffin's ability in question reads: "You may discard Folco at a haven to play any hobbit from your hand with his company."
I played a game where me and my opponent interpreted this differantly, and I've been unable to find anything official. My interpretation is it's a special ability, it doesn't say when it can be used and thus does not have to be used in the orginization phase and has nothing to do with recruiting only one character per turn. My opponents interpretation was that it could only be used durring the orginization phase and it counted as your 1 recruit per turn. Card text contridicts the rules frequently and when so the text takes precedecne (unless there's an official ruling otherwise), is there anything official about this, or a mistake in the way either of us interpreted it?
Folco Boffin
this pretty much answers your question, you were right and your opponent was wrongCoE weekly Rulings/Clarifications 16 wrote:18. Does Folco's ability ("You may discard Folco at a Haven to play any Hobbit from your hand with his company.") override the normal rules about using only direct influence if your wizard is out, unless the wizard is at the site, in which case you can use general influence?
*** Yes. Card text overrides rules in situations of conflict.
