ok, i managed to fix this by creating a new user and granting myself the old account's password (yes, i do have the rights of god as well :)) so far it is working again... maybe the .gccg folder gets corrupted somehow, i believe it is not the first time that happens to me Indeed I faced such issues...

Yes, the way SVN works, if you rename something, it's like a "delete + add" action, so when updating, you would have to download it again, even if the content wasn't modified.

You can also use the '--nosounds' flag on the command line.

Indeed, if the sounds engine initialization fails, gccg will throw an error and exit.
This behavior could be changed so that the game keeps running without sounds.
